Weather cancellation protocol

As we head into colder and rainier weather, we want to take a moment to advise our protocol on weather-related cancellations.

Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our players and coaches. We only cancel practices or games in extreme weather conditions. If a cancellation is necessary, families will be notified via email.

As the weather can quickly change and fields (if covered in snow) can be cleared in time for practices, any cancellations will be made by 3:00pm at the latest. For game days, the call for cancellations will be made either early morning or the day before scheduled home games. Please refrain from emailing the club to ask about cancellations; if there is a cancellation, you will be notified.

We ask that families always check their emails before leaving their homes for any cancellations for both practices and games.

We would also like to remind parents to dress their child according to the weather. When the temperature drops, the body loses heat more rapidly. It is important to dress appropriately when training in cold weather; this also means not overdressing! Layering clothing is recommended and very effective. The layers can be added or removed based on body temperature and changing outdoor conditions, such as temperature, wind, or rain!

  • Layers: thermal base layer/jersey/training or rain jacket
  • gloves
  • toque
  • soccer training pants
  • water bottle: it is extremely important to keep hydrated during colder weather!
